Autumn Weekend Away
On The Road Again…Destination Unknown
Planning an autumn or winter weekend escape? Now that’s an idea we can all get behind. Freedom from worries and special time away is the fuel we sometimes need to re-energize our minds and bodies. But when it comes to planning a weekend away, deciding what to pack can be stressful. It can be challenging to select the perfect outfit that is both comfortable and stylish. However, with a little bit of planning and consideration, packing for a weekend away can be a breeze. Here are some tips for what to pack for a weekend away as we head into the cooler months.
1. Comfortable Clothes
One of the most important things to consider when packing for a weekend away is comfort. It’s essential to pack clothes that are easy to wear and move in, especially if you’re planning on walking or exploring the area. Opt for lightweight and breathable fabrics, such as cotton, linen, or a soft blend of fabrics. Also, make sure to pack clothes that fit well and are not too tight or too loose. A great choice for comfortable clothing is a pair of relaxed-fit pants, a cotton t-shirt, and a lightweight jacket.
2. Layering Pieces
If you’ve never heard the term ‘layering’, it’s about to become your new best friend. Layering is all about options and versatility in your weekend outfits. If you don’t know what the weather has in store, wearing layers that you can take off when it’s warm or put on when it’s cool, is the perfect solution. A great idea is to start with lighter clothing, like an oversized t-shirt, paired with an overshirt – essentially a casual shirt either unbuttoned or partially unbuttoned, and a light jacket over the top. A casual jacket like a bomber, denim jacket or a shacket (shirt-style jacket) is an ideal last layer. For another casual weekend-away look, throw a hoodie over a t-shirt and top with a denim jacket.

3. A Puffer Vest
Puffer vests have made a serious comeback this year! Perfect for cooler weekends, they’re made from lightweight, insulating materials to provide warmth without the bulk or restriction of a full jacket. A super versatile piece of clothing, they can be worn over a shirt or sweater for extra warmth or layered under a jacket for added insulation. This season, they’re in great easy-to-wear colours that suit any wardrobe and are a stylish finishing touch on cooler days.

4. Autumn Knits
When the temperature drops and the chill sets in, men's knits are the perfect solution to stay cosy and stylish. From sweaters to vests and collared zip-ups, there are a variety of knitwear options that can keep you warm and fashionable during cooler weather. Choose a soft knit that provides insulation without adding bulk. You can layer a knit sweater over a collared shirt for a classic look or wear a lightweight knit under a jacket for added warmth. This season the popular zip knit is all the rage. With a range of colours and styles to choose from, knits are a versatile wardrobe essential for any cooler weather outfit.
5. The Cuffed Jogger
If you pack nothing else to wear on your bottom half, make sure you take a pair of cuffed jogger pants on your weekend away. These pants are the perfect clean, functional and cool look and seriously comfy too! The best part is these pants are for all ages and can be styled in so many ways. Described in men’s fashion circles as ‘relaxed tailoring’, they’re a smarter look than sportswear, but not as smart as dress pants and have become ingrained in the modern man’s wardrobe. Keep your joggers neutral in beige, grey, navy or black and change your look by what your wear on top. Our favourite trans-season look is pairing your joggers with a t-shirt, over-shirt and bomber for the ultimate casual outfit.
Finally, it is important to pack clothing that reflects your personal style. Don't be afraid to pack items that you feel comfortable in and that express your personality. It is better to feel confident and comfortable in what you’re wearing than wear something you don't like the look of. And above all, smile and have an awesome weekend away!
