Wedding season is coming! Worried about what to wear?

Here’s a simple plan to help you out!

We are well and truly heading into the season of weddings!

With spring already in the air, and summer just around the corner, you may well find yourself on several wedding guest lists.

But choosing what to wear to a wedding can be a bit overwhelming, and our busy lives can make it even harder to get our outfit act together.

So, to help you out, we’ve created our latest wedding guide for men - just to make life a little less stressful.

Whether you’re the groom or a guest, getting ready for a wedding just got easier.

First things first – these are the 4 things you need to consider:

1.     The venue (indoors or outdoors)

2.     The season

3.     The time of day

4.     The dress code

Once you’ve answered the questions above, you can begin to look at options for what to wear.

If you’re the groom, you’ll want an outfit that stands the test of time – even in the fickle world of fashion, you don’t want to look back at your wedding photos one day and wonder what was going through your head. This doesn’t mean you can’t add a personal stamp to your style – it just means making sure that whatever you choose, you look your stylish best!

You simply can’t go wrong with a well-cut suit, either two or three pieces, in a striking fabric. Something that doesn’t just look good but feels good and fits well too. So many people buy what they like, but don’t consider how the outfit fits their body. Make sure to ask for advice from our knowledgeable salesperson when shopping for your suit or bring an honest friend along for the ride.

Strictly speaking, if the wedding dress code is formal, then black tie or bow tie rules apply. If Tuxedo’s aren’t your thing, you might consider wearing a black or dark-coloured suit. This looks just as classy and formal and can seem less ‘stuffy’ than a room full of men in black tuxes. Note: fitted darker styles are dressier.

If you’re a guest and the wedding is a more formal affair, a great patterned or plain tie picking up the colour of your dress shirt is what you need, along with a jacket and matching trousers. Check out our coordinating pocket squares for an extra detail.

And because we’re talking summer right now, make sure to choose a fabric that is right for the climate just in case you have to stand in the sun for hours. There are so many fabrics on offer these days that are far more suited to our environment.

If it’s a day or even a beach wedding, wear a lighter colour in a summer-weight fabric like our linen blend suits. This  will not only be perfect for the occasion but will help soften the impact of the heat.

But just because it’s more casual, doesn’t mean you should look unsophisticated. Keep it stylish with a single-breasted blazer and matching pants, which is equal parts easy and elevated.

And remember, you don’t always need to wear a dress shirt with a suit. If the event is laidback or more casual, a fun printed shirt, polo shirt and jacket will work just as well.

Though they may not be wrinkle resistant, linen and cotton are great options for a summer wedding and are very classic timeless. They work well for formal, semi formal and casual events alike. The overall vibe really depends on the colour and fit.

And if you’re looking for a shortcut to your perfect look, pick an image that feels like you, and we’ll help you to make it happen.
