Weddings Never Go Out of Style
Groom or guest - here’s how to ensure your wedding day style is just right!
Celebrations never go out of style, one thing is certain – there will always be love and weddings. For the married couple, the big day is about being surrounded by those they love most and making memories.
Part of making memories, is having photos and no one wants to look back on their wedding photos in the future, and cringe at what they were wearing! And, since photos last a lifetime, it’s important to get your look right for the big day. So, whether you are the groom, best man or a wedding guest on the arm of someone you want to impress, wedding day style matters!
Let’s talk options.
1. The Three-Piece Suit
Deciding how formal you want to look is a good starting point. If it’s a full three-piece look you’re after, let it be known that this is one of the more formal styles for a wedding. Yet, there are endless ways to adapt this suit to alter its level of formality.
Three-piece suits are defined by the standard suit jacket and pants, accompanied by a matching vest – and they’re back in fashion in a huge way. A stylish and adventurous look, they’re great as the dancing kicks off and the jacket comes off. Or pair the vest with jeans and crisp white shirt for a casual look.
There are several three-piece styles to choose from and investing in such a suit will give you versatility all year round, taking you from one occasion to the next! Let’s face it, this year is all about reconnecting with social events and special occasions, so hopefully your calendar is filling up and you’ll have ample opportunity to wear this suit.
2. The Two-Piece Suit
If you’re leaning towards the classic and more conventional two-piece with crisp plain shirting, tie and pocket square, you can’t go wrong.
Consisting of suit jacket and matching trousers, it’s a simple, attractive and formal style that’s just as easy to wear for a wedding as it is for the modern workplace and other occasions – in other words, it’s very adaptable and can be dressed up or down, with or without a tie, and depending what shoes you choose to wear with it. Casual it down with sneakers or dress it up with loafers or lace-ups.
3. The Linen Blend Suit
Linen blend suits make for perfect wedding attire, with their light weight, breathable fabric giving a relaxed but super stylish look.
Traditionally thought of as a summer suit, linen suits are seriously on trend, and can actually be worn all year round.
Linen blend doesn’t crease as much as full linen - which is especially good when you want to look as smart at the end of the day as when you first got dressed. This style choice is inherently less formal than other suiting options, so it lends itself to being easily mixed and matched for different occasions.
Linen blend suits come in two or three pieces which can be used as separates, pairing the jacket with jeans or chinos and or wear the pants with a casual shirt and sweater. There are endless options with the versatility of linen.
Our Scarborough linen blend suits are also available in Navy, Light blue & Sage.
4. The Double-Breasted Look
Gone are the days when a double-breasted suit was the dress code of the finance sector. Double breasted is back and it’s returned with a reinvented look! The most striking characteristic of the double-breasted suit is two columns of buttons. It has wide panels of fabric at the front of the jacket and a hidden button inside which helps keep the jacket closed. In addition, the left lapel generally folds over the right.
Basically, it oozes confidence and sway and is sure to turn heads.
Choose this modern tailoring look for a special event or wear out to a great restaurant. The jacket can be worn separately with a pair of jeans or chinos and a more casual shoe. A slightly casual double-breasted jacket is a good choice all year round.
Whichever look you choose, pair it with a sharp shirt and polished shoes for a cool and sophisticated vibe. And remember, a great white shirt is timeless (you can never have enough white shirts in your wardrobe). The key here is to have some fun with your style and don’t forget accessorise with a punch of colour! Ties and pocket squares can match or mix.
